President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has departed Liberia this Monday morning for Washington, D.C., where he will participate in a high-level U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit hosted by U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
President Boakai is among five African Heads of State specially invited to attend the summit, which will run from July 7 to 11 at the White House. Leaders from Gabon, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania, and Senegal will also be in attendance.
The summit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations, promoting shared economic goals, and enhancing security cooperation between the United States and select African nations.
According to the Executive Mansion ~ the official page for the Liberian presidency ~, While in Washington, President Boakai is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Trump and other senior U.S. officials. The discussions will cover a broad range of strategic issues, including economic development, good governance, security cooperation, energy partnerships, and democratic consolidation.
The visit is also expected to reinforce Liberia’s historic ties with the United States and expand collaboration in key areas such as health, education, and infrastructure development.
President Boakai is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes:
Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Augustine Ngafuan, Minister of Finance, Hon. Samuel K. Woods II, National Security Advisor, Major General Daniel Ziankahn (Rtd.), Military Advisor to the President, Hon. Jeff Bilbo, Chairman, National Investment Commission, Hon. Nathaniel Kwabo, Director General of the Cabinet and Hon. Bedell Sandi, Special Envoy.
The delegation also includes protocol officers, communication staff, and security personnel.
President Boakai is expected to return to Liberia on Friday, July 11, 2025 upon the conclusion of the summit.
