President Boakai Inspects BAO CHICO Pier Project in Royesville

Monrovia, January 1, 2026 — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, toured the BAO CHICO Pier Facility currently under construction in Royesville Township, Montserrado County, as part of his administration’s drive to strengthen Liberia’s infrastructure and maritime sector.

The inspection underscores the President’s commitment to personally monitoring key development projects aimed at boosting trade, improving logistics, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for Liberians.

During the visit, President Boakai was briefed by project managers and relevant government officials on the scope of work, progress made so far, and the projected economic benefits of the facility once completed.

The BAO CHICO Pier Facility is expected to play a critical role in enhancing port services, expanding access to modern maritime infrastructure, and supporting private sector growth in Montserrado County and beyond.

President Boakai emphasized the need for quality workmanship, transparency, and strict adherence to project timelines, noting that public and private investments in infrastructure must deliver tangible and lasting benefits to the Liberian people.

“The purpose of these projects is to improve lives, create jobs, and strengthen our economy. Anything short of that is unacceptable,” the President stressed.

He was accompanied by senior government officials and representatives of the private sector.
