Liberians President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, on Monday June 30, led a high-level delegation of senior government officials to sign the Book of Condolence in honor of Liberia’s 20th President, the late William Richard Tolbert, Jr.
The solemn ceremony took place at the historic Centennial Memorial Pavilion in Monrovia, where President Boakai and members of his administration paid tribute to the late statesman. President Tolbert, who served as President of Liberia from 1971 until his tragic death in 1980, is remembered for his efforts to modernize the country and promote national unity.
The Book of Condolence signing marks a formal recognition of President Tolbert’s enduring legacy in Liberian history. Dignitaries from various branches of government, as well as members of the public, are expected to follow in the coming days to pay their respects.
This commemoration is part of a broader national reflection on Liberia’s political history and the contributions of past leaders to the nation’s development.
