Pro-Temp Karnga-Lawrence Announces LP Reunification and National Convention

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberty Party has taken a significant step toward reconciliation after years of internal divisions. Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the party’s political leader, has announced the successful reunification of its factions and the upcoming national convention to finalize its leadership structure.

Speaking to the joint reconciliation committee, party executives, diaspora leaders, and supporters in Liberia and abroad on Monday, February 3, 2025, Karnga-Lawrence expressed pride and optimism for the party’s future.

“Today is a long-awaited day. For over four years, the partisans of the Liberty Party have waited patiently and hopefully for this moment. We are pleased to announce to all of our partisans, friends, sympathizers, well-wishers, and the public that the Liberty Party is once again united under my leadership as political leader,” she declared.

The reunification results from months of reconciliation efforts led by a joint committee representing different party factions. This development marks a new chapter for the Liberty Party, aiming to restore unity and strengthen its political influence.

Karnga-Lawrence announced that a national convention will be held from February 7 to February 9, 2025, to cement the reconciliation and establish the party’s leadership. Under the theme “Stronger Together,” the convention will finalize and legalize decisions made during the reconciliation process. The Grand Bassa Senator emphasized that key policies and procedural matters will be discussed and ratified during this event.

“We are excited to invite all of our partisans to join us at this historic moment. Together, we will make our party stronger and more vibrant than ever before,” she said.

As part of the convention’s activities, Karnga-Lawrence encouraged all party members to participate in a parade on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 8:00 AM. The parade will begin at the Liberty Party’s new headquarters on Tubman Boulevard, opposite the YWCA Compound in Oldest Congo Town, and will mark the event’s opening ceremony.

“Come, let’s reunite! Let’s show love to one another! Let’s celebrate the goodness of God!” she urged, underscoring the importance of unity in the party’s resurgence.

With the convention approaching, Karnga-Lawrence expressed gratitude for the trust and enthusiasm of the Liberty Party’s supporters. As the party moves forward, the focus remains on solidifying leadership, strengthening internal cohesion, and positioning itself as a formidable force in Liberia’s political landscape. “Together, we can do better!” Karnga-Lawrence concluded, looking ahead to the party’s renewed strength and collective success.
