Grand Bassa [August 28, 2025] – Senate Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence has launched strong scathing criticism against Senator Gbehzohngar Findley, County Administrative Officer James Duen, and County Council Chairperson Nancy Bryant, branding them as key actors in what she described as a “BM Speed” fraudulent act related to a controversial iron ore tailing deal with Steelfort Mining Company.
Lawrence alleged that the officials moved ahead with the deal without proper authorization or full consent of the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus. She claims Duen signed the agreement under the questionable title of “Acting Superintendent,” while Senator Findley and Nancy Bryant helped facilitate the deal outside legal channels.
“These actions were deceptive and illegal,” the Pro-Temp said. “They acted without transparency, and they may face legal consequences.”
However, the claims have not gone unchallenged. Representative Thomas Goshua responded, criticizing Pro-Temp Lawrence’s remarks. He said it was wrong for the Pro-Tempore to publicly accuse fellow county officials without first engaging the full caucus or verifying the facts.
“The way this matter is being handled is inappropriate,” Rep. Goshua stated. “If there are issues, they should be addressed through proper legislative channels, not through the media.”
As the controversy grows, public calls for a formal investigation are intensifying. The accused parties have yet to issue official statements.
