Rep. Ellen Attoh-Wreh Sues Husband for Bigamy

Monrovia, Liberia – The Executive Chairman of the Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA), Prince Wreh, has been summoned by the Monrovia City Court to attend a conference on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 11:30 am.

This legal action follows a formal complaint filed by his wife, Representative Ellen Attoh-Wreh of Margibi County, accusing him of committing the crime of bigamy.

Court documents in our possession reveal that Representative Attoh-Wreh has accused her husband of marrying another woman while still being legally married to her, an act that is considered illegal under Liberian law.

Bigamy, which is defined as the act of marrying someone while already being married to another, is punishable under Liberia’s criminal laws.

The summons comes at a time of heightened attention to issues of marital fidelity and legal accountability, especially among prominent public figures.

This case has drawn public interest, especially, Margibians, as both parties, Rep. Wreh and Executive Chairman are well-known in the country’s political and economic circles.

“She do well oo, let she put the man in glass na,” Abdulkai Titita Alieu Sesay, commented.

Another Facebook user commented: “No need for bigamy!! Divorce and remarry!! The hectic isn’t necessary!!”

“It should be while statutorily married. A man married traditional can’t be sued for bigamy unless where he married another woman statutorily while married traditional,” Bindu Ansumana, asserted.

The Monrovia City Court has set the stage for Today’s scheduled conference with Stipendiary Magistrate Ben L. Barco expected to clarify the allegations and begin proceedings in what is now a highly publicized matter.

Prince Wreh, who has served as the first Executive Chairman of the LSEZA, has yet to publicly respond to the legal charges against him, and it remains unclear what defense he will offer during the court proceedings.

Meanwhile, Representative Ellen Attoh-Wreh, a prominent figure in Liberia’s legislative branch, has maintained her silence on the matter, but her legal team has indicated that they are prepared to proceed with the case.

The case has sparked discussions on social media, with many citizens expressing strong opinions on both sides of the issue.

Some argue that public figures like Mr. Wreh should be held to higher standards of personal and moral conduct, while others have questioned the motivations behind Rep. Ettoh-Wreh legal action.

Legal experts suggest that the outcome of this case could have great impact not only for the couple involved but also for the broader societal view of bigamy and marriage laws in Liberia.

As the case unfolds, all eyes will be on the Monrovia City Court to see how it addresses this high-profile accusation, with the potential to set legal precedents in the country.

The public awaits further developments as both parties prepare for  Today’s conference expected to be held at 11:30 a m.
