Monrovia, Liberia [Oct. 23, 2025]: Grand Bassa Fifth District Representative Thomas Goshua has formally requested that the House of Representatives summon suspended Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Bryant McGill and Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman over allegations of rape involving a 14-year-old girl.
In his letter to the plenary, Rep. Goshua expressed concern over what he described as the government’s slow response to the case. He highlighted that rape, although a serious crime, remains a non-billable offense under Liberian law, and therefore requires urgent attention and transparency from the authorities.
“Since the news of the alleged rape by the Deputy Minister, much has not been done to bring the alleged perpetrator to justice, and the outcome has not been communicated to the Liberian people,” the letter stated.
The lawmaker urged both the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Youth and Sports to appear before the House plenary to provide clarity on the ongoing investigation. He also noted that the victim and her family continue to suffer emotional distress and stigmatization, warning that delays could amount to a denial of justice.
The communication is set to be reviewed and addressed in the House’s upcoming session.
