Ganta City, Nimba County – A recent accusation made by Ganta businessman Adonis David Menlor has sparked controversy in Nimba County, as he alleged that Rep. Saye Sylvester Mianah, Chair of the Nimba County Legislative Caucus, owns a construction company operating in the county ~ a claim Rep. Mianah has strongly denied.
According to Menlor, Rep. Mianah’s ownership of the company, reportedly named Tweh River Construction Company, constitutes an illegal conflict of interest. He has publicly called on the lawmaker to shut down the business.
In response, Rep. Mianah denied owning the company. He clarified that he merely provided financial support to the company due to a personal relationship with its owners, who, he said, supported him during his early political struggles.
“I do not own the company,” Rep. Mianah said in a telephone interview. “I only pre-financed it. The individuals running it stood by me when I had nothing.”
He also criticized Mr. Menlor for what he described as a failure to verify facts before making public statements. “I urge Mr. Menlor and others to thoroughly investigate before going public with information,” Mianah added.
In a surprising turn, Rep. Mianah shifted attention to other national lawmakers, alleging that Senators Saah Joseph, Momo Cyrus, and Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah are involved in business dealings with ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML).
The nature of these alleged dealings has not been detailed, and none of the accused lawmakers have responded publicly to the claims at the time of this publication.
This developing story adds to ongoing public scrutiny over conflicts of interest and private business engagements by elected officials.
