Montserrado County District #2 Representative and Chairman of the House Committee on Executive, Hon. Sekou S. Kanneh, has strongly refuted a recent media report alleging that he is among lawmakers seeking to remove Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah.
The report, published by The Independent Probe News on August 15, claimed that 38 lawmakers had signed a resolution to oust the Deputy Speaker, and further suggested that Rep. Kanneh was being positioned as a potential replacement. In a press statement issued on Saturday, Rep. Kanneh described the report as “false and malicious,” warning that such misinformation could spark confusion and instability within the Legislature.
“I categorically denounce the false and malicious claims… This report aims to create confusion and instability within the House,” the statement read.
Kanneh emphasized that he has not taken part in any discussion or action related to removing Deputy Speaker Fallah and reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership of his colleague.
“He enjoys the confidence and respect of all lawmakers, including myself,” he said.
The Representative further stressed that the House remains united in its legislative duties, and that his focus remains on representing the interests of his constituents and advancing national development.
He concluded by urging the public to disregard the report and called on the media outlet to issue an immediate retraction.
“All media must prioritise truth and accuracy in reporting. Together, we can promote peace, unity, and collaboration for the benefit of Liberia,” Kanneh added.
