Verity News Reporters Emmanuel Kangar and Archie Boan have clinched two separate media awards for their stellar performance as investigative journalists in 2025.
Verity News and Radio Peace FM senior reporter Emmanuel M. Kangar Jr. won the Radio Personality Award at the 6th edition of the Voices Liberia Dinner and Award Ceremony on Saturday night, December 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, Verity News legislative reporter and emerging investigative journalist Archie Boan was named First Runner-Up at the 3rd Annual Youth Media Action (YMA) Young Journalist of the Year Awards.
Both ceremonies recognize Liberia’s most promising young reporters whose work demonstrates creativity, courage, and public impact in the media.
Kangar Honored for Excellence in Radio Journalism
Known for his relentless and critical approach to journalism, Kangar is a seasoned multimedia journalist with over a decade of professional experience.
He holds a diploma in media studies from the Professional Journalism School of Liberia and has earned several certificates from various media institutions across the country.
Kangar began his journalism career in 2014 at Atlantic Radio in Kakata City, Margibi County, before joining Radio Peace FM 96.5MHz in Harbel, where he currently serves as Senior Reporter, News Caster, and Talk-Show Host. Earlier in 2025, he joined Verity News as a reporter and later rose to the position of Senior Reporter and Copy Editor.
Over the years, Kangar has received multiple accolades for his work. In 2024, he won two major honors, On-Air Personality of the Year and Talk-Show Host of the Year, at the Margibi Golden Achievement Awards.
His latest recognition from Voices Liberia further cements his reputation as one of the country’s leading radio journalists.
Boan Recognized for Courageous Investigative Reporting
Archie Boan’s recognition at the Youth Media Action Awards highlights his steady rise through Liberia’s media ranks and his commitment to investigative journalism.
Boan’s journalism journey began at the M. Nixon Garlo Evangelical Lutheran High School Press Club in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
He later co-founded Youth for Peace at Smile FM 98.6, a platform aimed at mentoring aspiring journalists, before entering professional reporting in 2019 at Flash FM 102.2.
There, he served as a reporter, studio supervisor, and sub-editor. Boan is currently furthering his training at the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism.
At this year’s awards, Boan was recognized for his bold and incisive reporting, particularly a groundbreaking investigative story that exposed an alleged rape involving a former government official and a 14-year-old survivor.
Judges praised the work for its depth, sensitivity, and public interest value.
Celebrating Young Voices in Media
Voices Liberia, a civil society organization involved in civic education and debate, annually honors change-makers across various sectors as a way of encouraging excellence and public service.
The 2025 Dinner and Award Ceremony marked its sixth edition and brought together journalists, activists, educators, religious leaders, security officers, and students.
Similarly, the Youth Media Action Young Journalist Award was established to provide platforms, training, and recognition for aspiring young Liberian journalists.
The initiative seeks to promote outstanding work in print, broadcast, and multimedia journalism and is supported by organizations committed to media development and youth empowerment nationwide.
