Monrovia, Liberia — Credible reports from within the working environment of RLJ Kendeja Resort say management of the entity has begun paying one month’s salary to employees following mounting pressure from a recent investigation by Verity News.
The payments, which started by 3:00 PM local time on September 25, 2025, come in the wake of a series of investigative reports by Verity News highlighting months of unpaid wages, deteriorating working conditions, and alleged labor rights violations at the prominent resort.
One employee, speaking under the condition of anonymity, confirmed the development: “Good day, brother. The pressure has made the management pay only one month.”
According to findings by Verity News, workers had gone unpaid for two to three months and faced increasing workloads due to downsizing. Staff reportedly were required to perform the duties of multiple employees without added compensation or support.
Additional complaints included unjust terminations without severance pay, the cancellation of staff medical benefits, and the discontinuation of routine annual events for employees.
In response to the reports, sources claim the management attempted to compel staff to publicly refute the investigation — a directive workers refused to comply with.
While the recent payment marks a partial step toward resolving the labor dispute, affected employees say it falls short of addressing the full extent of their grievances. Many continue to demand full salary arrears, reinstatement of benefits, and improved working conditions.
Verity News will continue to monitor developments as this story unfolds.
