Liberian economist Samuel Jackson told police he was prepared to be taken into custody as officers were deployed to his residence in Monrovia amid an ongoing investigation into the death of his wife.
“I am ready to go to jail. Y’all come and take me. I already have my toothbrush in my pocket,” Jackson reportedly told officers during the police presence at his home.
Authorities say Jackson has been identified as a person of interest in an alleged homicide investigation.
Police spokesman Sam Collins said investigators observed injuries during an examination of the body.
“We saw bruises and lacerations on the body during the examination. This was done in the presence of the South African Ambassador and Mr. Jackson’s representative,” Collins stated.
