Sen. Amara Konneh Backs Rep. Musa Bility Amid Petrol Storage Pricing Controversy

Gbarpolu County Senator Amara M. Konneh has expressed solidarity with Rep. Musa Hassan Bility of Nimba County in the wake of the Liberian government’s decision to adjust storage pricing for petroleum products a move that has sparked concerns among major importers and distributors.

In a public statement issued Friday, Senator Konneh reassured Rep. Bility, who is also the Political leader of Citizens Movement for Change and head of Srimex Oil & Gas, of his support during what he described as a “challenging time.”

We stand united with you and the Srimex family during this challenging time. Allah has a purpose for everything, and remember that both triumph and distress are temporary, as our faith reminds us. Stay strong! Your community and friends are with you, my brother Musa Hassan Bility. Jummah Mubarak,” Konneh stated.

The government’s adjustment of petroleum storage charges has reportedly triggered unease within the industry, with fears that it could further impact fuel pricing and availability across Liberia. Srimex, one of the country’s leading petroleum companies, is among those directly affected.

Senator Konneh’s message of support comes as industry stakeholders continue to engage the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for clarity on the new pricing structure and its potential implications for businesses and consumers.

The development has also stirred political attention, given Rep. Bility’s dual role as a businessman and lawmaker, with some observers noting the delicate balance between private enterprise and public office.
