Senator Geevon Smith Urges Calm Amid Bea Mountain Workers’ No-show Action in River Cess

River Cess County Senator Wellington Geevon Smith is appealing to aggrieved workers of Bea Mountain Mining Company to remain calm and continue their duties as efforts are underway to resolve their grievances.

Speaking to Verity Thursday, October 23, 2025, Senator Smith disclosed that the River Cess County Legislative Caucus is holding discussions on the issue and is expected to visit the county this weekend to engage all parties involved.

The senator reminded citizens that Bea Mountain is the first major investment in River Cess County and cautioned that ongoing unrest could discourage potential investors and even push the company to withdraw its operations from the area.

“We understand the workers’ concerns, but we must handle this matter peacefully,” Senator Smith emphasized. “Dialogue is the best way forward to ensure that everyone’s interest is protected.”

Meanwhile, reports from Beawor Administrative District indicate that Bea Mountain workers have been on a go-slow action for nearly a week, citing unfair labor practices, including delayed salaries, poor working conditions, and the lack of permanent employment status.

The workers’ spokesperson, Mr. Kennedy Kolo, told Verity that the company’s management had allegedly attempted to sideline over 50 employees who raised complaints about these issues.

Meanwhile, The Bea Mountain’s management has not issued any public statement regarding the ongoing labor dispute. The situation remains tense as both employees and local authorities await further engagement from the county’s legislative leadership.
