Gbarnga, Bong County – July 21, 2025 – In a heartfelt dedication ceremony, Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. expressed profound gratitude for the establishment of a state-of-the-art secondary school in Gbarnga, marking a significant milestone for post-war Liberia. The event, celebrating a US$1.6 million investment, was attended by various dignitaries, including President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah amongst others.

“Today is a wonderful day for the people of Bong County,” Senator Moye declared as he welcomed attendees to the historic event, describing it as the first of its kind in Liberia since the end of the civil war. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts that made the project possible, highlighting the crucial support from President Boakai during his tenure as vice president.

The senator noted that a considerable grant of $47 million from the World Bank had been secured under the leadership of the President during his vice-presidency, which helped fund the new educational facility.

I want to say, God has said, it will be your time as president to come and dedicate it,” he remarked, expressing optimism about the future of education in the region. Senator Moye conveyed his appreciation to the President and the Ministry of Education, acknowledging their commitment to fulfilling the expectations of both the funding partners and the local community.

As he concluded his remarks, Moye emphasized the responsibility of the community to maintain and utilize the facility effectively. “My citizens have told me that they’re going to do everything humanly possible,” he promised, assuring that the county education officer would oversee the proper management of the property in a manner pleasing to the donors and the national leadership.

The dedication of the new secondary school is seen as a pivotal step in enhancing educational opportunities for the youth of Bong County, reflecting a collective effort towards rebuilding and improving Liberia’s educational infrastructure.
