SME Chamber Hosts Liberian Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Business Ties

The SME Chamber of India hosted a high-level delegation from the National Investment Commission (NIC) of Liberia in Mumbai on Tuesday to discuss avenues for international collaboration, investment, and employment generation in the West African nation.

The meeting brought together key representatives from both sides, with Ms. Saakshi Kulkarni, Director at the SME Chamber of India, welcoming the Liberian delegation led by Melvin Sheriff, Executive Director of NIC, and Dan Maxwell Jr., Director of Investment Promotion.

Ms. Kulkarni described the engagement as an “invaluable opportunity to explore potential growth prospects, government support mechanisms, and collaboration possibilities” between Indian enterprises and Liberia’s emerging markets.

Highlighting Liberia’s investment potential, Mr. Sheriff presented the country as a promising destination for global investors, citing lucrative opportunities in tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, mining, energy, and technology. He emphasized the country’s stable investment environment under President Joseph Boakai’s ARREST agenda, which focuses on economic reform and development.

Discussions also centered on Liberia’s ongoing economic initiatives, policy reforms, and incentives available to foreign partners.

The SME Chamber of India, founded and led by Chandrakant Salunkhe, has been instrumental in connecting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to global markets through initiatives such as policy advocacy, B2B matchmaking, export promotion, and access-to-finance linkages.

Officials from both organizations expressed optimism that the dialogue would pave the way for Indian SMEs to explore Liberia as a strategic destination for future investments across diverse sectors.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations and creating sustainable employment opportunities through joint ventures and trade partnerships.
