STAND Hails Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti for U.S. Visa Validity Extension

Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND) has congratulated Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, and the Boakai administration for what it calls a “triumph of diplomacy”, the recent decision by the United States government to extend visa validity for Liberian travelers from 12 months to 36 months.

The policy change, announced by U.S. Secretary of State Michael Rubio under President Donald J. Trump’s administration, follows sustained diplomatic engagement by Minister Nyanti and Liberia’s foreign missions.

In a statement released Tuesday, STAND described the achievement as a major boost for Liberia’s international image and a direct outcome of effective, proactive diplomacy.

“This decision affirms that Liberia’s voice is once again being heard on the world stage,” said STAND Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu, Jr. “Minister Nyanti’s diplomacy and the Ministry’s proactive leadership have produced a result that will directly benefit countless Liberians, students, entrepreneurs, and families alike.”

According to STAND, the new visa arrangement is expected to strengthen people-to-people ties between Liberia and the United States, enhance trade and educational opportunities, and ease travel challenges that Liberians have long faced.

The organization also noted that the announcement came shortly after Minister Nyanti’s meeting with Secretary Rubio in Washington, D.C., signaling what it described as “a renewed era of mutual respect and cooperation between the Republic of Liberia and the United States of America.”

“The updated U.S. visa reciprocity schedule reflects the shared commitment of both nations to deeper engagement and fair partnership,” the statement read.

Chairman Morlu further commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its ongoing work to promote Liberia’s diplomatic and developmental interests abroad.

“Under Minister Nyanti’s leadership,” he said, “we are witnessing tangible results that uplift ordinary citizens and reinforce Liberia’s global partnerships.”

STAND expressed optimism that this milestone would pave the way for further diplomatic progress and greater opportunities for Liberians around the world.
