STAND ‘Provoked’ By Pres. Boakai’s Silence on July 17 Petition

The organizers of the July 17 “Enough is Enough” protest have reconvened to form an Organizing Committee tasked with executing the upcoming Thank You & Appreciation Program scheduled for August 4.

The event, which will also serve as a renewed call for action, is being framed as both a celebration of the people’s resilience and a public challenge to what organizers call “President Boakai’s continued arrogance and failure to respond.”

At a planning meeting held on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, committee members finalized logistical and programmatic details, reaffirming their commitment to honoring citizens who braved the streets in July to demand accountability, transparency, and responsiveness from the current administration.

“The people spoke clearly on July 17,” said one committee spokesperson. “Their petition has been ignored, but their voices will not be silenced. On August 4, the people will speak again,” lead organizer Mulbah Morlu wrote on his social media page.

Billed under the rallying cry “The People Will Speak, Boakai’s Arrogance Will Be Confronted!” the August 4 program is expected to draw participants from across the country.

Organizers say the event will feature speeches, testimonials, and a symbolic presentation of gratitude to those who demonstrated “unwavering courage in the face of government indifference.”

President Joseph Boakai has yet to publicly address the demands outlined in the July 17 petition, which called for decisive reforms in governance, economic relief for struggling communities, and a crackdown on corruption.

The administration’s silence has only intensified frustration among protest leaders and grassroots supporters.

Security preparations are reportedly underway, with civil society groups and legal observers planning to monitor the event closely.

Organizers emphasized that the August 4 gathering will be peaceful but firm in its message: Enough is Enough.
