“Stop the Killings, Book the Perpetrators” Grand Kru Women Demand Justice Over Mysterious Deaths.

By Patrick Teah, Jr.

Barclayville, Grand Kru County – Scores of women in Grand Kru County have presented a formal position statement to county authorities, demanding justice over what they described as continued brutal killings of women and children across the county.

The petition, addressed to the County Superintendent, outlined several alleged unresolved murder cases, including the death of 12-year-old Issac Kojo Sieh of Dargbeville, Sasstown, Jloh District.

According to the women, the child was reportedly murdered on September 19, 2024, and up to the present there has been no clear outcome from the investigation, despite police presence at the scene.
The women also referenced the killing of Rose Tade of River Gee, whose body was discovered in Chengbetee, Dorbor District, on December 16, 2025. They expressed grave concern that such incidents continue to occur without visible accountability.

In their statement, the women emphasized that every citizen deserves the right to life and protection under the law. They called on the County Authority, the Ministry of Justice, and the Judiciary to ensure immediate, impartial, and transparent investigations into all reported murder cases.
“We do not want our petition to fall on deaf ears or be delayed. We remain firm in our demand for justice,” the statement read.

The women further urged authorities to ensure that suspected perpetrators are booked and prosecuted in accordance with the law, stressing that what they described as a culture of silence and alleged cover-ups must end.

Receiving the petition, Acting Superintendent and County Administrative Officer, Hon. Alphonso D. N. Teah, Sr., commended the women for what he described as a bold and courageous step in speaking out against violence.
He assured the petitioners that the matter has been officially received and is currently under review by the county authority.

However, Superintendent Teah expressed disappointment in some police officers assigned to investigate the cases. According to him, the police initially reported that there was no foul play in one of the incidents.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, February 20, 2026, Teah disclosed that information reaching his office indicated that certain police officers allegedly set up a 12-man jury — a process he noted is traditionally carried out by community or traditional leaders.

He strongly condemned the action, stating that Grand Kru County “is not a dumpsite where police officers and other law enforcers will operate outside established procedures.”
The Acting Superintendent called on relevant national authorities to intervene and ensure accountability. He revealed that efforts are being made to work with central government authorities to facilitate the immediate departure of three police officers from the county.
“We will work with the authority to make sure that three of the police officers leave this county,” Teah stated.

The petition marks one of the strongest public outcries by women in Grand Kru in recent times, as concerns grow over safety, justice delivery, and public trust in law enforcement institutions.

Residents say they are closely monitoring developments and hope the petition will lead to concrete action to restore confidence in the justice system and ensure the protection of women and children across the county.
