SUP Intensifies Mobilization for April 14 “Jobs and Justice” Protest Across Monrovia

By: Archie Ayouba Boan

The Students Unification Party (SUP) says it is intensifying grassroots mobilization efforts ahead of a planned “Jobs and Justice” protest scheduled for April 14, with organizers claiming growing support across several communities in the capital.

According to the student-based political movement, preparations are already underway in key areas including Capitol Hill, Jallah Town, 12th Street, Fiamah, and Matadi.

SUP leaders say the protest is aimed at drawing attention to what they describe as worsening economic hardship, rising unemployment, and systemic injustice affecting ordinary Liberians.

In a statement rallying supporters, the group emphasized what it called a “historic moment” for citizens to demand accountability and improved living conditions. “The Liberian people are prepared to resolve the contradictions of joblessness and injustice,” .

The group also expressed confidence that April 14 will mark a significant turning point, with organizers urging mass participation. “Soon and very soon, the Liberian masses will make history for themselves and for posterity,” the statement added.

SUP, known for its activism on governance and social justice issues, has played a prominent role in past protests and advocacy campaigns, particularly among students and young people.

However, it remains unclear whether authorities have granted official permits for the demonstration. The government has yet to issue a formal response regarding the planned protest or outline security arrangements.
