Superintendent Ojay Morris Engages Margibi Business Community on President Boakai’s Mandate to Reduce Commodity Prices

Kakata, Margibi County ~ Margibi County Superintendent Ojay Godfavor Morris has begun engaging with the local business community to enforce President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s recent directive mandating a nationwide reduction in the prices of key staple goods.

The directive, issued on Monday, September 1, 2025, by the Executive Mansion, called for the immediate reduction in the prices of rice, flour, and eggs ~ three essential commodities in Liberian households.

According to the announcement, the price of a 25kg bag of rice has been reduced from $16.75 to $14, flour from $39 to $35, and a carton of eggs from $60 to $50.

Superintendent Morris, who was recently inducted into office, told Verity News that he has already begun informing business owners in Kakata to comply with the presidential mandate. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accessibility of pricing for consumers.

Business people were told to post the prices of their commodities at the entrance of their various shops for customers to see, beginning this Monday,” Morris said.

He further disclosed that starting next week, he will personally accompany agents from the Ministry of Commerce to monitor compliance with the new pricing structure. The first round of inspections is expected to begin in Kakata City.

Superintendent Morris reaffirmed his commitment to supporting President Boakai’s ARREST agenda and ensuring that residents of Margibi County benefit from the government’s efforts to ease the rising cost of living.

Authorities have warned that any business found in violation of the new pricing policy could face penalties in accordance with national commerce regulations.
