The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), since the inception of Mr. Julius Dennis as Director General, has entered seven international aviation agreements.
This illustrates Liberia’s cooperative efforts towards international aviation prgroms, signing multiple agreements and securing partnerships at the International Civil Aviation Air Service Negotiations Event (ICAN2024) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Key agreements and partnerships include Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Malaysia. In this agreement , Liberia and Malaysia signed an MoU to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in civil aviation safety, security, and training.
Another Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Togo allowing both courtiers to improve aviation safety and efficiency.
In addition, an Air Service Agreement with Saudi Arabia was signed an air facilitating increased flight operations and boost tourism and trade.
The seven agreements also include Bilateral Air Services Agreement with Qatar, an effort to renew and update their existing BASA, with an official signing ceremony scheduled for Doha in early January 2025.
Potential Partnership with Emirates Airlines is another achievement as the LCAA held discussions with Emirates Airlines to explore potential future collaborations.
Part of these agreements is Liberia and Ethiopia finalization of a Bilateral Air Services Agreement, paving the way for Ethiopian Airlines to commence operations in Liberia in late November 2024.
Liberia also stands at a Potential Cooperation Agreement with a discussion held between both countries aviation authorities.
Julius Dennis, Director General of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority has however indicated that “these agreements are a testament to Liberia’s commitment to strengthening its international aviation partnerships and promoting economic growth.
“ We look forward to the benefits these collaborations will bring to our nation”.
For her part, Madam Hadiyatul Hayati Binti Khalil, Deputy Undersecretary of Aviation at the Malaysian Ministry of Transport spoke about how “the collaboration envisioned in this MoU will not only benefit our airlines and airports but also improve the overall experience for travelers and businesses in both nations”.
Lieutenant Colonel Abou Ahabou Idrissou, Director of Civil Aviation of Togo emphasized that “by working together, we can leverage our respective strengths and resources to create a prosperous and secured aviation environment.”
These agreements mark a new era for Liberia’s aviation sector, paving the way for increased connectivity, economic growth, and tourism.
