Supt. Swengbe Dismisses Allegation as “Smear Campaign”

River Gee County-The Office of the Superintendent of River Gee County has responded to a recently leaked financial report circulated by individuals he believed to have vested interests in ‘derailing the county’s push for transparency and accountability.’

Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe has labeled the report a “failed tactic” aimed at distracting him from demanding a financial report from the River Gee County Sports Steering Committee.

“These attacks are nothing more than a desperate attempt to tarnish my reputation and deflect attention from our legitimate request for financial accountability,” Superintendent Swengbe stated. “This campaign of misinformation is designed to intimidate honest leadership—but I remain undeterred and fully committed to serving the people of River Gee County.”

Superintendent Swengbe emphasized that the publication in question is part of a broader smear effort intended to derail ongoing efforts to ensure that public funds—particularly those allocated for sports development—are properly managed and accounted for.

In alignment with his commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility, the Superintendent has officially demanded a detailed financial report from the Sports Steering Committee concerning funds received during the recent National County Sports Meet.

The Committee has been given a seven-day deadline to provide a full accounting for review.

“This administration is focused on strengthening internal controls and promoting good governance,” Swengbe added. “We will not be sidetracked by baseless accusations or personal attacks.”

The Office of the Superintendent is urging the public to remain guided by facts, not propaganda, and reaffirms its dedication to protecting the interests of River Gee County with integrity and accountability.
