The suspended Chairperson of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), Madam Edwina Crump Zackpah, has admitted on a radio show that she and other commissioners were receiving $15,000 in salaries and benefits.
Madam Zackpah made the disclosure on Saturday, September 7, 2024, when she appeared as a guest on Spoon Talk, a nighttime radio show.
The suspended LTA Chairperson highlighted that under her watch, she and the other commissioners were earning $15,000 in salaries and benefits every month, and that has not changed to date.
Recently, leaked payroll documents of the LTA revealed that each commissioner receives a total of $15,449 in salaries and benefits monthly.
A breakdown of the leaked LTA payroll revealed that the monthly salaries and benefits of $15,449 consist of a basic salary of $7,861, transportation of $1,572, housing allowance of $1,200, gas for the generator of $3,622, operational gas (200 gallons) of $966, and scratch cards of $300.
Patrick Honnah, one of the commissioners at the LTA and a former critic of officials in the Weah administration for earning huge salaries, is also caught in this $15K web.
However, in defense of himself, Honnah refuted the claim and stated that no commissioner at the LTA earns $15,000, noting that he earns $7,861 as gross salary.
He issued an open challenge in a Facebook post that if anyone can prove that the LTA assigned a luxury to him, he will resign as commissioner.
This latest revelation dispels claims by the acting LTA management team that commissioners have not been receiving $15,000.
