A retired U.S. army officer who later became a staunch supporter of ex-President George Manneh Weah is dead. Multiple family sources have confirmed to Verity News that Mr. Tarplah Davis, commonly known as Zoely Zoe, passed at JKF Hospital in Monrovia after a protracted period of “stroke” according to medical reports.
Zoely Zoe, who later served as Assistant Security Manager and Assistant Manager for Corporate Affairs at the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC), became widely known for a controversial Facebook post in 2019.
Prior to his 2019 appointment as Deputy Defense Minister for Operations, the late Zoely Zoe openly threatened to kill critics of the Weah Step-Down Campaign. “I will kill them,” Zoely Zoe said.
The Senate Committee on Defense and Intelligence rejected his nomination in February 2020 claiming that Mr. Tarplah Davis was unfit to serve as Deputy Defense Minister for Operations.
