On February 11, 2025, Sarpo Apoleabo Development Organization members in Sinoe County gathered at the CDB King School campus on Camp Johnson Road, Monrovia, for a crucial election to choose a new leadership team for the next three years.
The election was held calmly and transparently, ensuring that all voting procedures adhered to democratic principles.
After a closely contested race, Team Wylie emerged victorious, sweeping all the key positions, including President, Vice President, Financial Secretary, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The election saw representatives from six sections – Wedjah, Seekon, Numopoh, Juarzon, Putu, and Carbade – each sending 20 voters to cast their ballots. These participants hailed from both Monrovia and Sinoe County.
The two major factions in the race were Team Diah, led by John T. Diah for President and Hamilton W. Slojue for vice president, and Team Wylie, which put forth Quiah S. Wylie and Godfrey A. Tarpeh as their presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Despite a spirited contest, election chairperson Gabriel Pyne Vanjah officially declared Team Diah the clear winners in all contested positions.
In an interview with reporters following the results, Vanjah expressed satisfaction with the election process, commending the peaceful atmosphere and the presence of poll workers and observers. “The election today was a success. I believe the process was smooth and transparent, and I want to thank everyone who participated,” Vanjah remarked. He further encouraged both the newly elected and the candidates who did not succeed to stay involved with the organization, emphasizing that leadership is about serving the community and fostering cooperation.
Looking ahead, the incoming leadership team, led by President-elect Quiah S. Wylie, is now poised to guide the Sarpo Apoleabo Development Organization through the next three years, taking charge of the organization’s future direction and initiatives.
