The Grand Confession. Why is Grand Cape Mount sleeping? 900 kilos of gold coming out of Cape Mount every month. But Cape Mountainians remain POOR and Jobless

By Verity News Editorial Board

The gold pits in Grand Cape Mount keep getting deeper and wider as citizens in that part of Liberia keep getting poorer.

Today, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung toured the mining facilities and operations of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC). His tour revealed a hard-to-explain truth. Rich country, poor people.

During his tour, he asked Bea Mountain: how much gold do you get out of here every month? The question was asked like three times. In response, a senior manager of BMMC said, “We get 900 kilos of gold from here every month.” He said this on LIVE video.

Was this a confession? Yes, it was a grand confession. The People of Kinjor now know. The People of Grand Cape Mount County now know. The People of Liberia, too, now know.

Verity News quickly researched the price of a kilo of gold on the official international gold pricing website. As of today, Saturday, April 11, 2026, the price of a kilo of gold is US$152,675.1.

So, let’s calculate:

900 kilograms x US$152,675.1 = US$137,407,590.

This means that Bea Mountain is generating over US$137.4 million out of gold export from Cape Mount alone every month.

Per annum or on a yearly basis, Bea Mountain is earning US$1,648,891,080 from gold exported out of Liberia, specifically Cape Mount. US$1.65 billion per annum. Imagine this for a second and take a look at Cape Mount.

Interestingly, Bea Mountain has been in Liberia for 25 years now since 2001. Meanwhile, most of the youth in Cape Mount remain jobless and the people there still live in huts and shacks.

The confession by Bea Mountain has again confirmed Forest Trends International latest technical assessment evaluation report that Liberia is losing billions of U.S. dollars in its extractive industry due to underreporting and financial leakages.

The people of Kinjor Town, Darblo Clan, Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount, still remain very POOR and MARGINALIZED since Bea Mountain entered Liberia in 2001 to mine and export gold.

While Bea Mountan generates billions of U.S. dollars from Liberia’s natural resources, increased hardship, underdevelopment, and the lack of basic social services remain prevalent in Grand Cape Mount County and across Liberia.

Was Liberia set up to fail and remain POOR even though it has vast natural resources?

Why is Grand Cape Mount sleeping? Wake up, Rise up, and Wise up. The time is now, because your resources are being EXPLOITED.
