Monrovia, Liberia — The People’s Power Movement, in partnership with the Martin K. N. Kollie Foundation, on Saturday donated 45 bags of rice to members of the Islamic community in Liberia as part of activities marking the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, made on February 28, was led by the Deputy Secretary General for Programs of the Movement, Comrade Fatimazahra Aboubaca Maiga, who headed a delegation that presented the rice to five Islamic institutions.
Beneficiary institutions included the National Muslim Council of Liberia, the National Chief Imam Office of Liberia, the Muslim Women Network, the Organization of National Muslim Youth, and the Muslim Association with Persons of Disabilities.
Speaking during the presentation, representatives of the Movement said the gesture was intended to identify with the Muslim community during Ramadan — a period marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, and charity.
The People’s Power Movement described the initiative as part of its broader commitment to social solidarity and inclusive engagement with all sectors of Liberian society.
Established by activists, students, and revolutionary advocates for change, the Movement characterizes itself as a political and democratic reform group dedicated to promoting good governance, social justice, and people-centered leadership in Liberia.
Leaders of the beneficiary institutions expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that such support is especially meaningful during Ramadan when many families rely on communal and charitable assistance.
The donation forms part of ongoing outreach efforts by the Movement and its partners aimed at supporting vulnerable communities across the country.
