Thousands Graduate, but Jobs Remain Scarce — Bility Warns of National Crisis

By Emmanuel M Kangar Jr.

Monrovia, Liberia — The Political Leader of the Citizens Movement for Change and Representative of Nimba County District #7, Musa Hassan Bility, has raised alarm over what he describes as a growing national crisis affecting Liberia’s youth.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 1, Bility noted that while thousands of young Liberians continue to graduate from schools and universities each year, employment opportunities remain severely limited.

“Thousands graduate, but where are the jobs?” he questioned, highlighting the widening gap between education and employment in the country.

Bility emphasized that talent is abundant across Liberia, but opportunities to harness and develop that talent are lacking. According to him, this imbalance is contributing to frustration among young people and poses a serious threat to national stability and progress.

“Talent is everywhere. Opportunities are not,” he stated.

The lawmaker warned that the situation should not be viewed solely as a youth issue but as a broader national concern requiring urgent attention from policymakers and stakeholders.

“This is not just a youth problem, it’s a national crisis,” Bility stressed.

He further cautioned that failure to address the challenges facing young people could have long-term consequences for the country’s development.

“A nation that ignores its youth is destroying its future,” he concluded.

Bility’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about unemployment, economic growth, and the need for sustainable job creation initiatives in Liberia.
