ZWEDRU, Grand Gedeh – Law enforcement officers successfully executed a major crackdown on narcotics early Saturday morning, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of illegal substances at a local mining camp in Grand Gedeh County, Southeastern Liberia.
Acting on a warrant issued by the Putu Magistrate Court, a specialized team led by Senior Agent Milton K. Howard, General Commander of Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Grand Gedeh detachment, descended on the CVI (Belleyaley) Gold Camp at approximately 6:00 AM on March 7,2026
Suspects and Seizures:
The operation targeted three primary suspects, netting a variety of narcotics including marijuana, tramadol, cocaine, and “kush.”
Those involved are:
Blessing Sumo 24, Liberian, 179 wraps of Marijuana and Tramadol, 28 wraps of Cocaine, 24g of Kush valued at US$972.20.
Solomon Akoi 42, Nigerian 54.7g of Kush, 2 boxes of Tramadol, 8 compressed “plates” of high-grade Marijuana valued at US$2,604.52.
Doris Peter (AKA Kumba), 30, Liberian.
The total street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated to exceed 4,200 USD, or approximately $800,000 LD.
Legal Proceedings:
Authorities confirmed that all three suspects are currently in custody and undergoing intensive investigation.
Following the weekend raid, the group is scheduled to be formally forwarded to the Court on Monday for prosecution.
The successful execution of the search and seizure warrant marks a significant blow to the illicit drug trade operating within the region’s mining camps.
