Three Confirmed Mpox Cases in Rivercess County

Cestos City, River Cess County – Health authorities in River Cess County have confirmed three cases of the Mpox virus across different districts, sparking concern among residents and health workers.

According to the County Surveillance Officer at the Rivercess County Health Team, Darius Leyhen, on Monday, July 7, 2025, during the Safe Motherhood Celebration held in Cestos City, the confirmed cases were reported from three districts: Jo-River, Dodain, and Timbo.

He further said that one of the confirmed cases involves a 26-year-old female student from Gowin Town who was tested positive on July 2nd after experiencing high fever, rash, and body pain. The patient had recently traveled from Monrovia before falling ill.

Health officials have also identified eleven contacts linked to the infected individuals. These contacts are currently under a 21-day monitoring period as a preventive measure against the spread of the virus.

Additionally, one more suspected case is under investigation by the County Health Team.

So far, River Cess County has recorded three confirmed Mpox cases since Epi-week 24.

Meanwhile, authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, observe preventive measures, and report any suspected symptoms to the nearest health facility for prompt intervention.
