Nimba County – In an effort to quell growing political tensions, the Traditional and Cultural Affairs Council of Nimba County has sent a 21-member delegation to Monrovia to mediate the dispute between Vice President Jeremiah Koung and Senator Samuel G. Kogar.

The delegation, led by Hon. Melvin Gbelia Duo, aims to facilitate a peaceful resolution following public accusations by Senator Kogar, who recently expressed frustration over being sidelined in county affairs. In an online interview, Kogar accused the Vice President of disregarding his role and excluding him from key decisions affecting Nimba.

The Senator’s remarks have sparked widespread public debate, with Nimba citizens and local leaders expressing divided opinions ~ some rallying behind Kogar, while others defend the Vice President’s leadership.

So far, Vice President Koung has not issued a formal response to the allegations.

According to the Traditional Council, the delegation will remain in Monrovia until Nimba County Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono returns to the country. The Council emphasized that its intervention is rooted in cultural responsibility and will be carried out discreetly, avoiding media sensationalism.

Our focus is on reconciliation and unity,” said Hon. Duo. “We believe a peaceful dialogue is essential for the good of Nimba and its people.”

The Council reiterated its commitment to maintaining harmony and protecting the county’s interests amid ongoing political developments.
