Kakata, Margibi County — Late Sunday evening, a devastating accident claimed the lives of 11 people on the major roadway connecting Red-light and Kakata.
The incident occurred between 7 to 8 PM when a bus, reportedly carrying 17 passengers from Kakata, collided with a stationary truck loaded with a large quantity of wooden planks. 11 died and 6 are still in critical conditions due to major injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling at a high speed when it crashed into the parked truck, leading to the catastrophic damage and loss of life.
Eleven individuals were pronounced dead on the spot, while 6 others succumbed to severe injuries upon arrival at nearby medical facilities in Margibi and Montserrado counties.
Medical teams and first responders from surrounding areas were dispatched quickly to provide emergency assistance and transport survivors to healthcare facilities. However, the severity of the injuries proved fatal for those taken in for treatment, as confirmed by medical personnel.
This tragedy has cast a somber shadow over both Margibi and Montserrado counties, with many grieving the lives lost in the accident. Community members have expressed concerns over speeding and road safety issues, highlighting the need for preventive measures to avoid similar accidents in the future.
