In an effort to strengthen the human resource capacity and efficiency of the Ministry of Agriculture, twenty-three (23) staff members have departed the country for a one-month technical training program in China.
The main focus of the program is in Agricultural Product Processing and Preservation Technology. The training which was organized by the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries is expected to sharpen the skills of County Agriculture Coordinators and District Agriculture Officers and expose them to cutting-edge techniques in:
1) Rice processing & preservation
2) Livestock & poultry product preservation
3) Aquatic product processing
4) Peanut deep processing
4) Modern food technology and value addition
Deputy Minister for Extension Services, Hon. Moses Gbanyan, described the training as “timely and vital,” noting that it will help address persistent post-harvest losses and enhance value chains for farmers across the country.
