The incident led to two persons in major injuries after a truck belonging to the Monrovia City Corporation ran into a residential facility.
This comes after a driver of the Monrovia City Corporation gave a truck belonging to the Corporation to an unauthorized female.
The saddened situation has led to families and community dwellers being surprised, causing them financial strain.
Due to this, The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has issued a statement expressing regret over the situation.
The Monrovia City Corporation said it is gravely concerned about the involvement of one of its garbage trucks in the accident on Jaimaca Road early on Sunday during early morning hours.
It is reported by MCC that a preliminary investigation has established the following there were 3 occupants in the truck at the time of the accident.
According to the investigation, there were no fatalities, as two persons suffered injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at the JFK Memorial Hospital.
There was also minor property damage causing thousands of United States Dollars.
This occurred when the waste management team of the MCC was engaged in a routine night-shift garbage removal operation.
MCC claimed that the assigned driver dared to give this truck to an unauthorized female not in the employ of MCC and she ran the truck off the road.
The Monrovia City Corporation says it is extremely alarmed, assuring the general public about the already ongoing police investigation.
The findings, MCc noted, will inform its decision to take all appropriate actions in line with its set policies and laws.
The Monrovia City Corporation stated that is also conducting an immediate review of the institution’s fleet operations to avoid recurrence.
The Monrovia City Corporation recognizes and expresses gratitude to bystanders who rushed to the scene and provided immediate assistance upon the occurrence of the accident.
“We also want to heartily thank the hard working waste management team who work day and night and were tirelessly working on the night shift to help keep our city clean. We call on the general public to please join us in the fight to keep our city clean, green, and safe. Let’s stop throwing garbage indiscriminately all over our city.”, MCC stated in a press release issued.
