The President of the University of Liberia (UL), Dr. Laliay Maparyan, recently served as a panelist along with the Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Hon. Sekou Dukuly, in a high-level discussion hosted by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Liberia.
The panel discussion, held in Monrovia, centered on the theme: “South-South Cooperation: A Framework for Sustainable and Mutually Beneficial Path Towards Sustainable Economic Corridors.”
The event brought together diplomats, academics, policymakers, and business leaders to explore opportunities for strengthened cooperation between developing nations, with a particular focus on the Liberian-Moroccan perspective.
Dr. Maparyan, known for her leadership in higher education and advocacy for academic diplomacy, emphasized the importance of educational partnerships as a key pillar in advancing South-South collaboration.

The panel aimed to identify practical frameworks for cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, energy, education, and cultural exchange.
Ambassador of Morocco to Liberia, His Excellency Hassan Naciri, highlighted Morocco’s longstanding commitment to South-South cooperation, noting that African solidarity remains central to the country’s foreign policy.
According to him, the Kingdom of Morocco believes in building bridges across the continent through shared expertise, trade, and investment.
The discussion also underscored the need for mutual respect, shared responsibility, and strategic partnerships among developing countries in the Global South to create inclusive and resilient economic pathways.
The event concluded with a call for deeper collaboration between institutions of higher learning, private sector stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure that South-South cooperation leads to tangible outcomes for future generations.
