(Monrovia, Liberia, June 11, 2025) – A team of biomedical experts from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has commenced the installation of six state-of-the-art digital X-ray machines at key health facilities across Liberia.
The installation aims to strengthen the country’s diagnostic capacity and improve access to quality healthcare services.
Installation activities are currently underway at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFK) in Monrovia and the Liberia Government Hospital (LGH) in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.
Additional health facilities benefiting from this intervention include the Emirates Hospital in Bopolu, Gbarpolu County; the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County; the F.J. Grant Memorial Hospital in Greenville, Sinoe County; and the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama, Lofa County.
As part of their engagement, the UAE biomedical team paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Health, Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto, who warmly welcomed the delegation and lauded the UAE government for its continued support to Liberia’s health sector.
Upon completion, the X-Ray Machines will reduce the need for patient referrals to Monrovia and ease pressure on central health facilities by enabling regional hospitals to provide critical diagnostic imaging services locally.
