UL Student Disciplinary Committee Condemns Campus Vandalism, Warns of Sanctions

By Rufus Divine Brooks Jr.

The Student Disciplinary Committee of the University of Liberia (UL) has strongly condemned recent acts of vandalism on the institution’s Capitol Hill campus and warned that students found responsible will face disciplinary action.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the committee expressed concern over videos and photographs circulating on social media showing individuals defacing university buildings and splashing paint on walls at several campus facilities, including the Graduate School and other academic structures.

“The committee views these acts as deliberate and unacceptable destruction of institutional property,” the statement said. “Such behavior violates the University of Liberia Student Handbook and undermines the integrity and reputation of our institution.”

According to the committee, the incidents occurred within the past week and involved persons believed to be affiliated with the university intentionally damaging campus infrastructure.

The Student Disciplinary Committee disclosed that a full investigation is underway to identify those involved.

“All individuals captured in the visual evidence will be thoroughly investigated,” the statement noted. “Any student found in violation of university regulations will face appropriate disciplinary measures in line with established procedures.”

Beyond enforcement, the committee urged students to exercise responsibility, maturity, and respect for university property, stressing that peaceful expression must not result in the destruction of shared facilities.

The University of Liberia administration has not yet released additional details as investigations continue.
