Under Pressure? Nyumah Somersaults Decision to Exit Unity Party

Harbel City, Margibi County – Just days after announcing his withdrawal from the Unity Party, J. Stanley Nyumah, Sr., a key political figure in Margibi County, has reversed his decision, pledging renewed commitment to the party he has supported for over two decades.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Nyumah attributed his change of heart to overwhelming appeals from relatives, friends, and longtime supporters within the Unity Party. He described the outreach as a “powerful reminder” of the collective nature of the party’s struggle and the expectations placed on his leadership.

A few days ago, I made a decision reflecting on the image of the sacrifices made by many of us who labored tirelessly to bring our party to leadership,” Nyumah said. “However, in the wake of that decision, I received monumental calls and appeals… reminding me that our struggle is collective and that stepping aside would not serve the best interest of those who depend on my voice and contribution.”

Following what he termed a period of reflection, Nyumah said he had resolved to stay with the party and continue to serve in “good faith.”

I am remaining with the party and will continue to work with others in good faith. I trust that together, we can make our party stronger and more responsive to the aspirations of its partisans,” he affirmed.

Nyumah’s return is being viewed as a boost to the Unity Party’s efforts to strengthen its internal ranks, particularly in Margibi County, where he remains a well-known grassroots organizer.

His initial decision to suspend his loyalty was linked to allegations of corruption at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) and concerns over political favoritism. However, party insiders believe his renewed commitment may help quell rising tensions and refocus attention on party unity ahead of upcoming political activities.

Unity Party officials have not yet publicly commented on Nyumah’s reversal, but sources say internal efforts are underway to consolidate the party’s base and re-engage veteran members in Margibi County.
