Monrovia, Liberia – The Unity Party’s National Coordinating Committee (NCC), representing the National Executive Committee (NEC), has expressed disappointment regarding the misinterpretation of National Chairman Luther Tarpeh’s recent comments on Liberia’s political landscape.
During discussions with journalists in Beeplay, District #5, Nimba County, Chairman Tarpeh noted that despite the myriad of registered political parties in Liberia, both the former ruling party and the Unity Party remain the leading contenders in recent elections. He highlighted that other parties often align themselves with either the Unity Party or the former ruling party to bolster their electoral prospects.

In light of the backlash, the Unity Party clarified that Chairman Tarpeh’s comments were not meant to undermine the significance of other political parties, specifically those within the Unity Party Alliance. The party has formally apologized to any individuals or groups who felt offended by his remarks.
The Unity Party values the crucial contributions of its Alliance Parties in supporting the current administration, led by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and appreciates their continued collaboration. The party has reiterated its commitment to fostering mutual respect, collaboration, and the integrity of the Alliance.
In response to the situation, the Unity Party is calling for greater collaborative efforts among the Alliance Parties and urges members to avoid actions that could hinder the development and vitality of the RESCUE ALLIANCE.
As President Boakai aims to guide Liberia towards a prosperous future, the Unity Party reaffirms its dedication to supporting the Rescue Alliance and ensuring the stability and success of the government.
