Unity Party Urges Respect and Restraint for Ex- President George Weah’s Health

By: Ben T.C. Brooks

Monrovia, Liberia | Oct. 20, 2025 | In a statement released today, Unity Party Secretary General Amos Tweh has called on all partisans, supporters, and members of the rulling”Rescue Mission” to refrain from speculating or engaging in public discussions concerning the health status of former President George Manneh Weah.

Tweh stressed the importance of respecting individual privacy, particularly in matters as sensitive as personal health. “We urge all Unity Party partisans, supporters, and rescue missionaries to refrain from discussing the current health status of former president George Weah,” he stated.

He further cautioned against drawing conclusions based on outward physical appearances, noting that such assumptions are often unfounded and potentially harmful. “Nobody can assume or conclude on the health condition of individuals due to their physical morphology,” Tweh added.

The Secretary General redirected focus toward national unity and governance, urging Liberians to concentrate on supporting the sitting president, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, as he leads the country through critical national development efforts.

“Let us continue to support our president, H.E. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, as he steers the affairs of our nation, Liberia,” he concluded.

The Unity Party’s call comes amid growing speculation on social media and in some public forums regarding former President Weah’s health, following recent public appearances.

The party’s leadership is seeking to foster a tone of civility, responsibility, and unity in the national discourse.

This latest statement underscores the Unity Party’s ongoing commitment to mature political engagement and its focus on national development under the Boakai administration.
