Monrovia, Liberia ~ Faculty members at the University of Liberia (UL) have embarked on a go-slow action, citing unresolved issues affecting staff welfare, salary concerns, and poor working conditions.
The protest action comes in the wake of a July 18, 2025, Constitutional General Assembly held by the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA), which mandated its Executive Committee to engage the UL administration and relevant stakeholders within a month to address pressing faculty welfare concerns.
At today’s assembly, ULFA members reaffirmed their dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in resolving several longstanding issues. Among the concerns raised are poor sanitation across campuses, delayed faculty promotions, salary disparities, and general staff welfare.
“Most recently, we are also dealing with the non-payment of overload and vacation school salaries,” the release stated. “This is not just about money ~ it’s about respect, fairness, and creating an environment where quality education can thrive.”

Faculty members have expressed frustration that, despite repeated engagements, the university administration has failed to take tangible steps to address their concerns. The go-slow action is expected to disrupt academic activities across all UL campuses.
ULFA leadership has not ruled out further action should the administration remain unresponsive.
As of press time, the University of Liberia administration has yet to issue an official statement regarding the faculty’s decision.
