UP Alliance Endorses Kogar for Nimba Senate Seat

The Unity Party Alliance has formally thrown its support behind Representative Samuel G. Kogar as its candidate in the upcoming senatorial by-election in Nimba County, urging voters to back his bid to transition from the House of Representatives to the Senate.

In a statement issued Sunday, April 13, 2025, and signed by Assistant Secretary for Press and Media Outreach Lansana P. Fofana, the Alliance described Kogar as a seasoned lawmaker whose legislative work has consistently prioritized the development of Nimba County and the nation at large. The endorsement followed a series of strategy meetings at the Unity Party national headquarters involving UP executives and representatives from member parties of the Alliance.

According to the statement, the decision to back Kogar was informed by broad consultations with party leaders, local stakeholders, and grassroots supporters across Nimba. The Alliance emphasized that it is committed to supporting candidates who reflect the values of national service and community advancement, noting that Hon. Kogar embodies these ideals through his years of public service.

The Alliance praised Kogar’s track record as a Representative, highlighting his sponsorship of key legislation aimed at improving the lives of his constituents and promoting inclusive governance. The group expressed confidence that his leadership in the Senate would ensure that the needs and aspirations of the people of Nimba are strongly represented on the national stage.

Calling on its local chapters to mobilize full support for Kogar, the Alliance urged all partisans, sympathizers, and citizens of Nimba County to unite behind his candidacy in what it described as a critical moment for the county’s future. It also appealed to other candidates and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the campaign season, stressing that a peaceful election is vital to fostering progress in Nimba and across Liberia.
