The Youth Chairman of the Unity Party, Togar Melvin Cephas, has stirred political debate with a bold declaration that the ruling party is poised to maintain national leadership for more than three decades, effectively shutting out the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) from the Executive Mansion for the foreseeable future.
Speaking at the cleaning up program held at the party’s new headquarters, Cephus asserted that the Unity Party has a historic advantage and a renewed momentum under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
“The Unity Party has the history of ruling for 12 years. Amb. Joseph Nyuma Boakai will eat his first 12 years. Jeremiah Koung will eat his 12 years. After Jeremiah Koung, Prince Moye will eat his 12 years. It means the CDC is not coming back in the Executive Mansion,” Cephus stated confidently.
His remarks suggested a projected 36-year uninterrupted leadership span for the Unity Party through a succession of its current top-ranking officials.
