19 October 2025-New York: The Consulate General of the Republic of Liberia near New York, USA and the New Life Group International Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Corporation have had discussions on prompting Sanitation and Health in Liberia in line with the Arrest Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID). The New Life Group International Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Corporation has agreed to “launch a transformative project to create a state-of-the-art Clinical Reference Laboratory in Monrovia, Liberia.”
The main goals of this project are “to fill the significant gaps in Liberia’s healthcare system by offering high-quality, reliable, and standardized diagnostic testing services that are currently unavailable locally or only accessible abroad at high costs and inconvenience, while also delivering basic life-saving services (BLSS).”
Objectives and Construction Costs:
The project aims to build and equip a modern laboratory that can provide a wide range of clinical, molecular, and pathology diagnostic tests, and offer basic life-saving services to underrepresented communities in Liberia Key objectives include:
- Offering accurate, standardized, and accessible diagnostic services (i.e. clinical chemistry, hematology, molecular diagnostics) for various medical conditions.
- Achieving rigorous quality assurance through international accreditation (i.e., ISO 15189/CLIA/CAP).
- Providing emergency medical services (i.e. basic first aid, basic life support, etc.).
- Supporting public health initiatives, community outreach, research, and the training of local laboratory professionals, BLSS professionals, and community healthcare workers.
- Supplying pharmaceutical supplies to local communities.
- Building partnerships to promote ongoing healthcare improvements.
The estimated capital expense for constructing the laboratory is USD 2.5 million, with projected first-year operational and equipment costs totaling USD 2.5 million. This financial commitment highlights a strong investment in Liberia’s healthcare infrastructure.
Once successfully implemented in Liberia, this project model will be implemented in Honduras and other 13 countries with similar needs. This investment initiative aligns with SDG3: Good Health and Well-being; as well as Sanitation and Health in the AAID.
