The House has Summoned LRA Commissioner James Dorbor Jallah after leaked reports suggest that he is receiving US$40,000 in monthly salary and benefits. Lawmakers are also accusing him of acquiring a vehicle costing over US$100,000.
The summons follows a formal communication submitted by Bong County District #3 Representative J. Marvin Cole, who raised concerns about what he described as troubling developments within the LRA.
In his submission, Rep. Cole cited allegations of salary disparities, possible misuse of public funds, underreporting of government revenue, and inconsistencies in the reconciliation of Government of Liberia accounts managed by the Authority.
According to the lawmaker, the House requires clarification on claims that the LRA Commissioner General reportedly receives approximately US$40,000 monthly in salary and benefits.
He also questioned the acquisition of a vehicle allegedly costing more than US$100,000, as well as the payment of what he described as excessive salaries and honoraria to consultants and other individuals.
Rep. Cole further urged the House to mandate the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct a thorough audit of the Liberia Revenue Authority.
He said the audit should cover all LRA-managed accounts, payroll and compensation structures, and institutional assets in order to properly address the allegations.
The House is expected to receive explanations from Commissioner General Jallah and his technical team when they appear before lawmakers next Thursday.
