Victim Urges Swift Justice in US$100K+ LD$ 1.5M Ethical Case Against Cllr. Samuel Peason

Ballah Yargbo, the complainant in a US over $100,000 and L$1.5 million ethical case against Cllr. Samuel Peason is urging the Grievance and Ethics Committee of the Judicial Inquiry Committee to expedite the trial process.

Yargbo alleges that Cllr. Pearson conspired with his brother to wrongfully deny him his inheritance following their mother’s death.

Yargbo’s mother was married to Pearson’s brother, James, prior to her passing.

Yargbo expressed concern over the slow progress of the investigation, which was initiated after Chief Justice Sie-Nyene G. Yuoh ordered the committee to look into the matter.

He noted that after an initial investigation, he had written to the committee to withdraw his case in hopes of a family settlement.

In his letter, he stated, “I officially inform the Grievance and Ethics Committee that I am withdrawing the matter against Cllr. Samuel Pearson for a family settlement.”

He also mentioned that if the Pearson family and he could not reach a resolution, he would refile the case.

However, Yargbo claims that Cllr. Pearson has failed to uphold the terms of their agreement.
Consequently, he has refiled the complaint, citing that Pearson has not settled the matter legally, as he is the rightful heir to his late mother’s estate, which Pearson is allegedly administering unlawfully.

The Chief Justice’s directive on August 14, 2024, called for an immediate inquiry into Yargbo’s allegations against Cllr. Pearson.

This followed a ruling by the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA), which found Pearson liable for ethical misconduct, recommending a twelve-month suspension due to these violations.

Yargbo’s frustrations have mounted since he first requested an expedited investigation in 2023, which remains unresolved.

He accuses Cllr. Pearson and his brother of conspiring to deprive him of significant real estate and personal assets, alleging that Pearson provided false testimony at the Probate Court regarding the estate.

Yargbo has urged Cllr. Henries to accelerate the investigation as mandated by Chief Justice Yuoh.
