Gbarnga, Bong County — A violent rainstorm on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2026, caused significant damages to the transmission towers of Premium FM 98.1/TV and Voice of Bong 103.5MHz in Gbarnga, forcing the suspension of normal broadcast operations.
The two stations are owned by Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr, and District #3 Representative Josiah Marvin Cole respectively.
In a statement released by Premium station’s management, the storm struck the facility’s main transmission tower, severely disrupting its operations. Despite the damage, authorities confirmed that no nearby properties were affected, including the station’s main facilities and the Sumo Moye Memorial Institute.
Management described the incident as unfortunate and announced that broadcast activities have been temporarily halted while assessments are ongoing. The station says efforts are underway to restore services as quickly as possible and has apologized to listeners for the disruption.
In a related development, another media outlet in Bong County, Voice of Bong radio station, 103.5MHz, was also affected by the heavy downpour. According to reports, the station’s transmission tower collapsed onto a nearby resident’s house during the storm.
Eyewitnesses said the intense rainfall brought down the structure, leaving residents in shock. While the full extent of the damage remains unclear, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities.
The impact on the station’s operations has yet to be officially confirmed, and no formal statement has been issued by the management of Voice of Bong. Additionally, Representative J. Marvin Cole, who is associated with the station, has not publicly commented on the incident.
Authorities are expected to continue assessing the situation as Bong County recovers from the effects of the storm.
