The head of volunteer teachers at Second Mother High School in Grand Bassa County has spoken out about his disappointment in the lack of support from the Parents Teachers Association and the Liberian Government.
Mr. Muah S. Garjay, who leads a group of 13 volunteers at the school, expressed his frustration to Verity News correspondent. He highlighted the fact that despite their tireless efforts to educate and support the students, many parents are not recognizing the sacrifices they make for their children and the community as a whole.
Garjay revealed that when meetings are called to discuss the well-being of the volunteers, the majority of parents ignore the invitations. This lack of support has left the volunteers feeling heartbroken and unappreciated.
Furthermore, Garjay mentioned that the volunteers were excited when they heard about the potential employment of 6,000 volunteers before the 2025/2026 school year. They eagerly submitted all their required documents to the Ministry of Education office in Buchanan City, only to be disappointed when none of them were factored into the system.
The volunteers at Second Mother High School play a crucial role in providing quality education to the students, and it is disheartening to see their efforts go unrecognized. Garjay urged the Parents Teachers Association and the government to show more support and appreciation for the important work that they do.
