Monrovia, Liberia – February 10, 2026:The Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, has reaffirmed the Boakai–Koung Administration’s commitment to strengthening the country’s judicial system as a cornerstone of democracy and good governance.
Vice President Koung made the statement on Monday during the groundbreaking ceremony of a US$3.2 million modern Judiciary Complex in Voinjama City, Lofa County.
He assured citizens that the administration remains resolute in constructing modern judicial facilities across Liberia to enhance access to justice and uphold the rule of law.
According to the Vice President, the government’s dedication to democracy and the rule of law is driven by the need to prevent a return to periods when democratic institutions were undermined.
He emphasized that a strong and independent judiciary is essential to ensuring fairness, justice, and equal protection under the law for all Liberians.
VP Koung also called on citizens to be law-abiding, to reject mob violence, and to respect legal processes, stressing that public cooperation is vital to sustaining peace and stability.
He further encouraged residents of Lofa County to take ownership of the project, noting that it belongs to the people and will serve generations to come.
He expressed confidence that, upon completion, the Judiciary Complex will significantly promote justice, strengthen the rule of law, and improve security for the people of Lofa County and neighboring regions.
The Vice President commended the Lofa County Legislative Caucus for its commitment to the project, particularly for contributing US$28,000 toward the payment of the land purchase.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia, His Honor Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Fallah; members of the Lofa County Legislative Caucus; and other government officials and stakeholders.
